Argumentative video

The most profound experience for me was changing how I argued. I learned a lot about how to argue and more specifically what the best ways to convey your position are. Seeming less confrontational and somewhat “distant” but still engaged works best because it shows you aren’t a threat to the person you’re arguing against and makes you seem more mature/your position is respectable. I also think that changing how you argue depending on who you’re arguing against also works well because you can adapt your argument based on the other person and their own stance.
A strategy I tend to rely on that doesn’t work is personal preference. If something doesn’t/does work for me then it doesn’t mean it's the same for others. I need to get out of that habit since it’s a poor way to argue and harder to support with facts.
I tried to change the words in my argument to keep it more casual and less of a lecture. Keeping it somewhat more casual helps make it easier for others to understand your point. I also tried to add a small joke between segways just to make it less confrontational and hopefully encourage the listener to pay attention more.
I liked the freedom to work on the project anytime before the deadline. It gave me more freedom and allowed me to be more creative since I could work on it whenever I wanted. However, I also liked the small deadlines since it helped keep me accountable for my work. For previous assignments, I would always do them a day or two before and it’s the same case for this one. I worked on it whenever I had free time and whenever I felt like it, and overall I feel like it helped improve the quality of my work. Additionally, I liked how we had the ability in choosing whatever argument we wanted since it made it more unique. Hearing other people’s arguments and how different they were was cool and didn’t make it seem repetitive/boring.
I thought most of the assignments leading up to our submission were in the mix between hard and easy, but overall I think it was a good mix.
